FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Man charged with shooting on Nena

A man who was shot after reportedly getting into a gunfight with his neighbor is being charged with attempted second-degree murder.

Donald Richardson, 35, of the 2900 block of Nena Street reportedly got into an argument with his neighbor, Calvin Dottie, about 10:30 a.m.

Richardson reportedly went into his house and got a handgun. He then went outside and began shooting, firing several rounds at Dottie. Dottie then retrieved a shotgun and began shooting at Richardson, striking him in the shoulder, chest, groin and leg. Richardson was shot by the shotgun pellets. However, he also accidentally shot himself in the leg with his own gun during the incident.

Police questioned Dottie and witnesses to the incident, and it was determined that Richardson was the aggressor.

A woman standing behind Richardson when he got shot was hit by shotgun pellets. However, she was checked out at the scene and did not have to be transported for medical treatment.

Richardson is currently in critical condition at LSU Hospital. When released, he most likely will be booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
