Pedestrian succumbs to injuries

A 25-year-old Shreveport man who was hit by a car in the 4100 block of Hearne Avenue on Sunday night has died.

Rodregus K. Maxie died at 5:25 a.m. today from injuries sustained in the crash. The incident occurred about 8:40 p.m. when he was hit by a northbound vehicle driven by Ashantis Mitchell, 25, of Shreveport.

According to witnesses, Maxie was in the outside lane when he stepped in front of Mitchell, who was in the inside lane. The crash appears to have been unavoidable, and no charges are expected to be filed against Mitchell.
