Accident at Slattery and Gilbert

Shreveport Police responded to a major accident at Gilbert and Slattery about 7:18 a.m. today.

Marinell Copeland, 59, of Shreveport was driving a 2003 Honda Freespirit motor scooter when she collided with a 1997 Cadillac Eldorado driven by Belinda Smith, 51, of Shreveport. Both women are from Shreveport.

The motor scooter was headed southbound when the Cadillac entered the intersection, causing Copeland to impact the driver's side door. Copeland was taken to LSU Hospital where she was admitted into ICU with life-threatening internal injuries.

Meanwhile, Copeland was cited with failure to yield.
