Cops and Scouts

Girl Scouts will be wearing a different kind of badge tomorrow, as they participate in the first-ever Cops and Scouts event, being held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Shreveport Regional Police Academy.

About 100 girls between the ages of 8 and 12 from the Pelican Council of the Girls Scouts of America will participate in the event, which will ultimately earn them a coveted Girls Scouts career patch.

The event will cover all types of police work, including Crime Scene Investigation, Police K-9, Mounted Patrol and other interesting divisions within the Shreveport Police Department. They will get a hands-on look at the various duties police officers perform, while earning their career patches, which have been purchased for them by the River Bend Rotary Club.
