Fatal Shooting at Milam and Alabama

One man is dead this morning after being shot in the back Tuesday night.

Shortly after 8:00 PM last night Shreveport Police were called to the 2900 block of Milam in reference to a shots fire call.

When Patrol Officers arrived at the scene they found Bennie Ray Thomas, a black male DOB 3-26-77, shot in the back laying in the middle of the street.

Thomas was transported to LSU by the Shreveport Fire Department where he was rushed to the Operating Room. Thomas succumbed to his wound shortly before 2:00 AM.

According to witnesses Thomas was approached by an individual, described as a black male 6'0" tall with a medium build wearing a white and grey hoodie, who began shooting at Thomas.

An individual with Thomas ran to a local grocery store and called the police.
