Mom arrested for cruelty to a juvenile

Shreveport police arrested the mother of six children found to be living in deplorable conditions in a home in the 2700 block of Missouri.

Kaylar White, 29, of Shreveport was arrested after she showed up at the police department ot check on the children, ranging in age from 1 to 10. The kids were taken into protective custody this morning after they were found to be living in a home with without heat, food or water.

An officer working a school zone this morning heard cries from one of the children and went to check on them. The children were given food, and child protection was contacted to take custody of the children.

White's charge is a felony, so she will be tranferred from the Shreveport City Jail to the Caddo Correctional Center where a bond will be set.
