FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Shooting on Michigan

The Shreveport Police need the public's help in finding an individual who may have knowledge of a shooting which took place last night.

Shortly before 10:00 PM Patrol Officers were making a follow up call in the 3700 block of Michigan when they heard several shots coming from the 1700 block of Glen. Seconds later, two cars turned eastbound onto Michigan from Glen.

The victims, Samuel Carroll, Jr. (Black Male, 2/5/1976 Driver) and Janice Paris (Black Female, 2/19/1964 passenger), pulled up and were stopped by one officer, while another officer engaged the other car in a vehicle pursuit.

The Officer found Paris had been shot one time in the face, with Carroll's car receiving several gunshots to the driver's side.

The other officer pursued the other vehicle to West College and Lillian where the occupants, 3 Black Male's, exited the vehicle and fled the scene.

Due to safety issues, the officer disengaged from the chase and a perimeter was established. None of the suspects have been apprehended at this time.

The owner of the vehicle told detectives she had loaned the car to Xavier Rushing (Black Male, DOB 1/13/01986) earlier in the evening.

At this time detectives are simply wanting to question Rushing as to who may have been in the car at the time of the shooting.

Paris is currently at the LSUHSC hospital undergoing treatment for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the lower jaw.

Information can be left with crimestoppers at 673-7373 or by logging onto the crimestoppers website at www.crimestoppersshreveportcaddo.com.
