Former city clerk arrested

A former Shreveport City Clerk turned herself into Caddo Correctional Center today after a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Sharanita Thomas, 33, of Shreveport is charged with forgery and injuring public records -- offenses she allegedly committed while working as a clerk in the City Marshall's Office.

Thomas is accused of changing dozens of tickets from moving violations to no seat belt, as well as closing other cases without authorization. The offenses mostly occurred between 2004 and 2006.

Thomas was released from CCC earlier today.
