FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Suspect charged in 2 robberies

Shreveport police have arrested and charged a Shreveport man with two recent business robberies.

Derrick Dewayne Bailey, 29, is charged with two counts of armed robbery and attempting to disarm a police officer for incidents that occurred at Catfish King and Sally's Beauty Shop in the past week.

The robbery of Catfish King took place about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 31) in the 6900 block of Jewella Avenue.  After robbing the business, Bailey fled the scene on his bike. He was quickly located in the 4100 block of Powell Street by patrol officers. He was taken into custody after struggling with one of the officers.

Money, a handgun, gloves and a skullcap were recovered. During the course of the investigation, Detective Craig Ivy realized that Bailey fit the description of a man who robbed Sally's Beauty Shop in the 2700 block of West 70th Street on Oct. 27. In that case, the suspect also fled on a bicycle.
