Two charged in accidental shooting

Shreveport Police Department has charged a 12-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man on gun charges after an accidental shooting injured a 2-year-old girl.

Marcus Odom of the 7300 block of Caldwell is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and the boy (can't release name because of age) is charged with juvenile in possession of a firearm.

The juvenile reportedly was playing with Odom's Mac 10 when it discharged, striking the boy's sister in the hip. She was taken to LSU Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred about 4:20 p.m. at Odom's home. Odom is the boyfriend to the injured toddler's mother. The weapon was recovered.

The toddler is expected to make a full recovery. It is extremely fortunate that the toddler was not more seriously injured.
