FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Calumet Shreveport to present Crimestoppers donation
Thursday, November 8 at 3:15 p.m., Calumet Shreveport Lubricants and Waxes, LLC will present a donation to Crimestoppers to help support continuing efforts at solving area crimes. The check presentation will take place in front of Calumet at 3333 Midway Avenue, just off Jewella Avenue.
"There have been some high-profile crimes lately in Queensborough, which is one of the neighborhoods surrounding the plant," says Calumet Communications Director Liz Swaine. "One of the top issues I hear from neighborhood groups we work with is concern about crime. If our donation can help police get tips on some of these cases it will be money well spent."
Crimestoppers plays an important role in local police efforts by encouraging people with information to call the police. Callers remain anonymous, but if they provide details that help solve a case, they can
be paid a Crimestoppers reward.
"Crimestoppers has led to breaks in crimes that we probably wouldn't have solved otherwise," says Crimestoppers' Sgt. Jim Taliaferro. "We depend on donations from local businesses to help us fund the
Crimestoppers program, and those local businesses have been very generous over the years."
This weekend, local residents who support the work of Crimestoppers can take part in the annual pancake fundraiser breakfast at Applebee's, 9088 Mansfield Road. From 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Crimestoppers volunteers will serve all-you-can-eat pancakes, coffee and orange juice for $5 per person.
Information can be left with crimestoppers at 673-7373 or by logging onto the crimestoppers website at www.crimestoppersshreveportcaddo.com.
