Auxiliary Academy to begin

A new Auxiliary Academy will begin December 4, 2007. The classes will be held at the Training Academy, 6440 Greenwood Road from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. each night.

This is a multi-week academy for police Auxiliary officers. Auxiliary officers are volunteers who wear the light blue uniforms and help whenever needed. They do things like direct traffic, write parking tickets, etc.

They are a huge help to the department and are subject to be called out whenever needed.

The media is welcome to cover these classes. They will be on each Tuesday for the next several weeks.
