More arrests in “Don’t Shoot” campaign

Three juveniles were taken into custody for illegally discharging a firearm last night -- the latest arrests attributed to the "Don't Shoot...I Want to Grow Up" Campaign.

The young males, all age 14, were taken into custody after police received a call about the juveniles shooting a weapon in the 700 block of West 73rd Street near Clift Avenue.

Besides firing a rifle into the air, the boys are accused of lowering the weapon and pointing it at some juvenile girls.

When police arrived, the boys ran away from the patrol car. All three were quickly taken into custody and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center. They were released to their parents and ordered to appear in juvenile court to face the charges.

A Remington rifle also was seized.

The tipster in this case will get $200 for calling Crime Stoppers.

The "Don't Shoot...I Want to Grow Up" campaign pays tipsters up to $500 for information that leads to the arrest of anyone illegally carrying a firearm and results in the seizure of the weapon.

For those who don't know the gun laws, tips may be called about any of the following:

* Carrying a concealed firearm without a permit;
