Officer involved accident

A Shreveport Police Officer was transported to the hospital this evening after being involved in a two car accident.

The office, whose name is not being released at this time, was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Olive and Highland. When the light turned green the officer started to go through the intersection when his car was hit by a Chevy Lumina going south bound on Highland.

A witness told officers they saw the Lumina run the red light and hit the officer’s car.

The officer was transported to Willis-Knighton North to be check out, after he complained of pain in his knees when they hit the dashboard.

The driver of the Lumina will be charged with running a red light and had his car impounded due to the fact he could not produce insurance.
