Independence Bowl information

The Shreveport Police and area Law Enforcement agencies are gearing up for the 2007 Independence Bowl. Over 170 Police officers from Shreveport, Caddo Sheriffs Office State Police and the Bossier city Marshall's Office will be out in force to help everyone enjoy this year's SEC vs. Big 12 match-up.

This year's Bowl game promises to bring lots of excitement to the area and to ensure fans of both Colorado and Alabama enjoy the game the SPD would like to advise those going to the game of several things which will enhance the game day experience.

Along with potential traffic problems visitors to the Independence Bowl are asked not to bring items such as:

Knives

Umbrellas

coolers

outside food or drink

oversized bags

Smoking is prohibited inside the stadium, per Louisiana law. If someone wishes to smoke they are asked to walk outside the stadium after getting their ticket stub stamped by the ticket takers at any of the gates. The stamp will allow smokers to reenter the game.

Smoking is not allowed inside the stadium. The concourse under the seating area is considered to be part of the stadium. Smokers will be asked to leave the stadium by police if they are caught smoking.

Shuttle Buses will run from Mall St. Vincent and Pierre Bossier Mall starting at 2:00 PM. They will run until one hour after the game ends.

As always road closures which will affect anyone going to and from the game. Below is a complete listing of roadways which will be affected by traffic trying to get in and out of the game.

Jewella Ave and Midway intersection:

Pre-Game: Game Traffic will be directed northbound on Jewella Ave.

Post-Game: Game Traffic will be directed north to I-20

Jewella Ave. and I-20:

Pre-Game: traffic will be directed as needed

Post-Game: No Northbound traffic allowed.

Jewella and Fair Street

Pre-Game: will be one way eastbound

Post-Game: will be one way westbound

Jewella AVE and Greenwood Road:

Pre-Game: No Southbound Traffic without a parking pass indicating access to Fair Street

Post-Game: No Southbound Traffic

Jeweella AVE and Clairborne AVE

Pre-Game: Traffic from Jewella avenue south will be directed north onto Jewella.

Post-Game: Traffic from Jewella avenue south will be directed north onto Jewella.

Greenwood RD and Mangum AVE

Pre-Game: Only those cars displaying a gold or brown parking tag will be allowed onto Mangum.

Post-Game: Exiting traffic from Mangum will be directed westbound on Greenwood

Greenwood RD and Fisk

Pre-Game: Access to Handicap Parking Lot Only

Post-Game: Exiting traffic will be directed westbound on Greenwood

Greenwood RD and Stadium Drive

Pre-Game: Only Traffic displaying a silver or Handicap parking will be allowed in this entrance.

Post-Game: Traffic will be directed westbound on Greenwood.

Greenwood RD and Querbes

Pre-Game: No Vehicle traffic allowed. This entrance is reserved for loading and unloading of the shuttle buses and pedestrians only.

Greenwood RD and Grojean DR

Pre-Game: Closed to vehicle traffic. Open to Pedestrian and Private Shuttle's

Greenwood RD and Missouri

Pre-Game: Missouri barricaded at Greenwood and at Pershing Rd. NO TRAFFIC ALLOWED.

Greenwood RD and Velva

Pre-Game: Access to Pink and White Parking Lots. Traffic will be directed south on Velva to westbound Pershing

Post-Game: Access to Pink and White Parking Lots. Traffic will be directed east on Pershing to Northbound Velva.

Greenwood RD and Hearne AVE

Pre-Game: Traffic will be directed westbound to southbound on Velva to westbound on Pershing Blvd. Access to White and Pink Lots. No Traffic will be permitted south of this intersection.

Post-Game: Traffic will be directed eastbound to I-20 or Northbound to Lakeshore to I-20. No Traffic permitted south of this intersection.

Hearne Ave and James St.

Pre-Game: James Street will be closed from Hearne to Velva

Post-Game: James Street will be closed from Hearne to Velva

Hearne Ave and Edgar St

Pre-Game: Edgar Street will be closed from Hearne Ave. to Velva

Post-Game: Edgar Street will be closed from Hearne Ave. to Velva

Hearne Ave and Kings Highway

Pre-Game: One Way westbound for Pre-Game

Post-Game: One way eastbound for Post-Game

Hearne Ave and I-20

Pre-Game: Traffic will be directed by Patrol Officers into White Pink or Blue Parking Lots

Post-Game: Traffic will be directed by Patrol Officers onto either east or west bound I-20.

Hearne Ave and Clairborne Ave

Pre-Game: Traffic will be directed north on Hearne

Post-Game: Traffic will be directed by Patrol Officers

Kings Highway and Mansfield Rd

Pre-Game: Traffic will be directed west on Kings.

Post-Game: Traffic will be directed east on Kings.
