How To Apply
Applying for Municipal Jobs
There are currently two different ways to apply for employment with the City of Shreveport:
  • The preferred method is to apply online
  • Another method is to visit the Human Resources Department to complete the application process, at
    505 Travis St.
    Suite 530
    Shreveport, LA

As stated earlier, the preferred method of applying for the City of Shreveport employment is to fill out and online application. Applicants that do not have online access at home can access our online application system at our Human Resources offices or at parish libraries. Applicants who provide email addresses can be notified periodically about the status of their applications, scheduling of examinations, referral to job vacancies, etc.

Currently, most jobs are available to apply online. Applicants can also call the Human Resources Department for assistance at 318-673-5150.

Job Postings & Application Process
The Human Resources Department posts current notices of job opportunities at the Human Resources Department Office and are published on its online application website. Job applications may be filed only when an examination is announced.

It is important that you include your entire employment history, including periods of unemployment on your application, plus any relevant education and experience. Applications may be rejected if incomplete. Some job postings have an application deadline; others are open on a continuous basis until a sufficient number of applications have been received.

Applicants who are interested in jobs that are currently open for application may request email notification of an announcement through the online application website or may complete a job interest card which may be filed with the Personnel Office at any time.

Delay in the Mail
The Human Resources Department cannot accept responsibility for failure of the Human Resources Department to receive material mailed by the applicant.

ADA Accommodations
The Human Resources Department does not discriminate on the basis of disability in the admission or access to, or treatment or employment in its programs or activities. Reasonable accommodations will be provided to allow access to the department's programs and activities for individuals with disabilities unless such accommodations would result in undue hardship.

Auxiliary aids such as readers, telecommunications devices for deaf persons (TDDs), taped text, and large print material, or other aids are provided for individuals requesting such accommodations under provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act. (Two-day notice is required.)
