Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover and Shreveport Police Chief Henry L. Whitehorn announce the second phase of Operation TBONE. Since June 2007, Taking Back Our Neighborhoods Everyday has proven to be a successful Quality of Life Initiative that pairs Shreveport Police Community Liaison Officers with Property Standards Investigators to enforce city codes and maintain safe and livable neighborhoods. | Operation Closed Market will deploy as many as 40 officers who are assigned duties other than patrol, back on the streets to help patrol officers, fight crime at any given time. Officers will be formed into teams that will be called up to assist with patrol functions. Detectives, will also paired with officers to support them and make cases against the criminals who are arrested. | “Plans for Operation Closed Market will be flexible and fluid, so crimes can be addressed as needed,” says Chief Whitehorn. “But one thing is for sure, citizens will be seeing a lot more officers on the streets of Shreveport.” | “Addressing the issues of public safety is my number one priority as Mayor of this city,” says Mayor Glover. “I applaud Chief Whitehorn and the men and women of the Shreveport Police Department as they embark upon this effort to address the overall problem and the overall challenge of making Shreveport a safer place.” |
