REVISIONS ADOPTED NOV 13, 2007

>>Property owners, tenants, lessee’s, occupants, agents or parties in interest will now be cited directly to court for violations of the City’s Property Standards Code. Specifically, as it relates to Weed Abatement, Care of Premises and Minimal Regulatory Building Standards. 10 day warnings will no longer be issued for these violations.

>>Maximum height for grass/weeds is now 12” city wide as opposed to the previous 12” in recognized subdivisions and 24” in non recognized subdivisions. Heavily wooded, undeveloped tracts of land will still be subject to having only a 25’ buffer cut around their entire perimeter.

>>Property owners, tenants, lessee’s, occupants, agents or parties in interest may now be cited for allowing vegetation to encroach into adjoining properties by growth through, over or under fences or for allowing any vegetative growth to block the clear line of vision for any motorists or to block pedestrian traffic on any sidewalk.

>>”Storage of Personalty” – Personal items that are no longer safely useable for the purpose for which such property was manufactured may not be stored in unsheltered storage. Unsheltered storage being defined as any storage that is not completely enclosed. Carports are not considered enclosed storage however, completely enclosed garages are. Tarps hanging down the sides or front of carports do not meet the criteria for complete enclosure.

The revised Property Standards Code was passed by the Shreveport City council on Tuesday November 13, 2007.
