December 20, 2007Mayor Glover Talks Crime with City’s Religious Community

Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover has called together a broad base and diverse group of over 50 local ministers and religious leaders to a Ministerial Luncheon Thursday December 20, 2007 at 11:30 am Independence Stadium’s Sky Box.

Teaming up with Police Chief Henry L. Whitehorn, Mayor Glover will engage the ministers in an open forum, discussion and Q & A to disseminate the very latest crime statistics, trends and anti-crime operations that are underway.

“There are well over 200 churches or places of worship in this City and they span every neighborhood and every community. That’s why it’s imperative that we bring the religious community onboard to be the eyes and ears and help us foster a grass-roots effort to root out crime and perpetrators of crime as we take back our City”, says Mayor Glover.

Members of the media will be allowed to cover/attend preliminary proceedings of the luncheon, but will be asked to leave for the presentations, discussion and Q & A portions of the program. This is a request of the ministers.

Following the luncheon and T.B.O.N.E. briefing, Mayor Glover and Chief Whitehorn will be available to the media for interviews at approximately 2:30pm at the Sky Box.
