February 5, 2008 - A Statement By Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover

“It goes without saying that I am outraged that bond for Lucien Trammell has been set at such a ridiculously low amount, given the gravity and severity of the charge of attempted first degree murder of a police officer. Throughout my tenure as Mayor, I have consistently espoused this administration’s policy that crime in any form will not be tolerated in the City of Shreveport! It is imperative that law enforcement, the prosecution and the judiciary work hand in hand to insure that this message is sent loud and clear to those who choose to engage in criminal activity. Mr Trammell is charged with a very heinous offense and this bond, in my opinion, is in no way reflective of the charge and would have, but for intervention of federal authorities permitted him to possibly be released from jail after posting a nominal bail. This sends entirely the wrong message”.
