In a ceremony set for Friday May 30, 2008 at 10:30 am, Shreveport Mayor Cedric B. Glover will pay tribute to a former Shreveport mayor, in an unprecedented manner. | Shreveport’s former City Hall building, which now houses the Shreveport Police Department, was the workplace of Mayor James “Jim” C. Gardner who proudly served the City from 1954 to 1958. | “Under Mayor Gardner’s visionary leadership, his administration looked to the future of Shreveport, erected City Hall at 1234 Texas Street and pioneered many ventures including the City’s first Master Plan,” says Mayor Glover. “Because of his extraordinary insight and vision, today we are enjoying the success of the Gardner administration’s roadmap that was put in place some 54 years ago.” | John B. Hussey who served as Mayor of Shreveport from 1982-1990 will serve as the Master of Ceremonies. Mayor Glover and Mayor Gardner will unveil the historic building monument, officially naming Shreveport’s James C. Gardner Building. The event is open to the public. | Official Naming of the James C.
