Friday September 26, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. marks a major development in the process to engage citizens, craft and implement a comprehensive City-Parish Master Plan. | At 3:00 p.m. Charles Kirkland, director of the Shreveport Metropolitan Planning Commission and staff, will view the proposals of firms seeking to become the Primary Planning Consultant for the Master Plan process. | “3:00 p.m. Friday is the deadline and I must say the response has been shocking and frankly unbelievable,” says Kirkland. “We’ve heard from some of the best in the country. The interest and the quality of firms that want to come to Shreveport, we’ve been told, is in response to the open, transparent and community approach we’re taking to guide and develop the Master Plan. We’ve told them we want a Master Plan that reflects the input and values of all of Shreveport and Caddo Parish. How do you plan to do that?” | Kirkland is confident that the Metropolitan Planning Commission’s qualification-based process will select the best consulting firm to lead and coordinate a comprehensive Master Plan to help guide the future of Shreveport for another fifty years. | “We are focused and we’re moving forward.” | To get more detailed information on the Master Plan process contact Charles Kirkland @ 673.6474 or log onto www.shreveportla.gov. |
