After thirty-three years in Shreveport city government Chief Administrative Officer Tom Dark has announced his retirement, effective December 15, 2008.

“I have been fortunate enough to serve the citizens of Shreveport for more than thirty-three years. I am proud to have been a part of the good things which have happened here during that time and believe that Shreveport has many wonderful things ahead of it,” says Dark. “I feel that now is the time for me to end my service to the City and begin the next phase of my life.”

Calling him a “deep reservoir of institutional knowledge” Dark was Mayor Glover’s choice out of a pool of seven applicants for CAO in early 2007.

“Tom’s background, his wealth of hands-on knowledge, insight and history of three decades in Shreveport government, has been invaluable to this administration and to the citizens of Shreveport,” says Mayor Glover. “Tom’s leaving is bittersweet, but after more than thirty-three years on-the-job and working under seven mayors, I begrudgingly and admit retirement is in order, for him, his wife and his family. I wish them the best.”
