Shreveport’s Director of Operational Services Mike Strong says repairs are complete and the water is back on after a 10-inch water main break near the Southern Trace Community. | “Two fire hydrants are currently running slowly to flush out the line,” says Strong. “Everything worked according to plan.” | The water main break was under a large tree and Public Works crews had to remove it before work could begin to repair the water main. | “We had the materials ready and didn’t anticipate any problems,” says Strong. | Mayor Cedric B. Glover commends Strong and all City workers involved for their quick response. “This was critical because there was no fire protection,” says Glover. “There’s only one single water line into the Southern Trace Community which means it’s the only way that area gets water.” | Shreveport Fire Chief Brian Crawford and Caddo Fire District #5 were on emergency stand-by and were ready to respond if needed. | ### |
