Leveling the Field

The City of Shreveport’s Fair Share Program seeks to enforce the city’s policy of providing and ensuring contracting / purchasing opportunities for small and economically disadvantaged businesses. It is the intent of the program to level the economic playing field of our community. The ultimate goal of the program is to enhance economic development in the area through the growth and development of these businesses.

Further, the city seeks to offer adequate programs and services to assist all of the businesses in our area. In keeping with this commitment, the city provides technical assistance and a strong advocacy component for the benefit of program clientele.

Article VIII, Section 2-401- 2-426 on July 27, 1999. The program was put into full effect on January 1, 2000. Since the inception of the program, approximately 500 individuals and businesses have been certified to participate in the Fair Share Program.


The Office of Fair Share offers a comprehensive slate of services and technical assistance to its clients.


Advocacy support is rendered whenever necessary to clarify or enhance the condition of the program participants.
