SPAR, along with C. C. Antoine Lodge #185, the Caddo-Bossier Port Commission and The Radio Group, present the 4th annual “Stop the Violence” 3 On 3 Citywide Basketball Tournament, Thursday, April 9th through Saturday, April 11th.
The tournament’s purpose is to provide positive athletic activities to avoid street violence in our city. The tournament emphasizes conflict resolution, civility, respect, civic pride and common purpose.
The tournament is double elimination with a single elimination championship game in each division. Games will be played at various SPAR Community Centers. The finals will be held at Bill Cockrell Community Center (4109 Pines Road) on Saturday, April 11th.
Entry fees are $15.00 per youth team and $25.00 per adult team. Registration ends on Monday, April 6, 2015 at 3pm. Registration packages can be picked up at any of SPAR’s 15 community centers starting March 27, 2015. The registration package, along with the team fee, should be turned in by April 6, 2015 to the SPAR Athletics Department from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM at 7401 Jewella Avenue. Check or money orders should be written to the order of “C.C. Antoine Lodge C/O Stop the Violence”.
The tournament will have male and female divisions for ages 9-10, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18, 19-24, 25-30, 35-45, 45 up. Additional events include free throw and three point contests. The fee for each event is $2.00.
Finals admission at Bill Cockrell Community Center is $2.00 for youth (Under 18) and $3.00 for adults. Please bring a canned good to each event. The canned goods will be donated to Northwestern Louisiana Food Bank.
