The City of Shreveport announces Project Swim 2015, the City’s free swimming lesson program. This is the fifth year for Project Swim which started in 2011 after the tragic 2010 Red River drowning that took the life of six teenagers from Shreveport. The City of Shreveport, through SPAR, has partnered with Rock Solid over the past five years to teach nearly 6,000 participants to swim.
Project Swim is funded through a grant from the Fannie and John Hertz Foundation. The California-based foundation’s generous donation will underwrite the cost for lifeguards and swim lessons for more than 1700 citizens this year.
