The City of Shreveport is ready for some football! Landers Dodge 2013 Battle on the Border High School Football Showcase will highlight some of the finest high school players and teams in the nation, September 13-14 at Shreveport Independence Stadium (Shreveport, LA). The showcase will feature its first 10-team, two day format providing a full slate of weekend games for area high school football fans. “The City of Shreveport is so excited to facilitate a high school sporting event of this magnitude. The coaches and players are really excited to play on this big stage, said Patrick Wesley, City of Shreveport.”
Battle on the Border activities kick off Thursday, September 12th with Battle on the Border “Community Service Day.” Twenty six students from Calvary Baptist Academy and Parkway High school will each volunteer two hours at Southern Hills and Bill Cockrell community centers tutoring Shreveport youth. All community service day volunteers will be recognized during pre-game activities of their respective football game.
Sci-Port: Louisiana's Science Center is offering a discounted general admission price of $8 (that's $5 off the regular admission) for Battle on the Border fans Sept 13th -15th. Just mention "Battle on the Border" when purchasing your tickets to get the discount. Sci-Port offers 92,000 square feet of science and entertainment, offering more than 290 exhibits.
During pre- and post-game periods, as well as during halftime of each game, the 1st Choice
Personnel Family Fun Zone will feature inflatable games, fitness stations, 40 yard dash and cheerleader/spirit squad appearances from participating schools. The fun zone will be located directly in the enclosed north end zone of the football field. During scheduled fun zone activities, fans young and old are invited to participate in this unique game day experience by participating in fun zone activities directly on field level. Admission to the fun zone is free.
Landers Dodge will be giving away up to $3,0000 during Battle on the Border weekend, as several fans will have an opportunity to kick and make a successful 20 yard field goal. Each successful field goal will pay out $200.
