[ARCHIVED] Active Living Every Day!

The City of Shreveport is pleased to announce that the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) awarded SPAR the Active Living Every Day (ALED) grant for $8,000. SPAR is one of four grantees across the nation to receive this award. The ALED grant is the result of a partnership between NRPA, the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
With this grant, SPAR will offer a twelve-week program entitled “Active Living Every Day” for seniors age 50 and over. This Active Living Every Day program is a step-by-step plan for building a healthier life and how easy it is to add physical activity to each day. Seniors will create their own activity plan. The Active Living Every Day program teaches participants to make healthy lifelong changes through their individual plans, successes and commitments.
SPAR’s Active Living Every Day program runs May 24 through August 9. Classes are Tuesdays from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM or Wednesdays from 9 AM to 11 AM. Both classes will meet at SPAR Wildwood (7401 Jewella). The program is open to seniors age 50 and up. It is a free program but registration is required. To register, contact Camille Webb, SPAR Senior Coordinator, at 318-673-7845 or Camille.webb@shreveportla.gov.
