The Aviation Task Force is under the direction of Chief David Ebarb. This position falls directly under the supervision of the office of the Deputy Chief of the Shreveport Fire Department and the Deputy Director of Airports of the Shreveport Airport Authority. This position is responsible for the day to day operations and training of the Aviation Task Force. It also requires constant liaison work between the Fire Department, Shreveport Airport Authority, and the FAA. The office is also responsible for the Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) budget within the Shreveport Airport Authority budget.
ARFF Chief David Ebarb is life long resident of the city of Shreveport. He is a 1990 graduate of Caddo Magnet High School. After high school Chief Ebarb enlisted in the United States Army, where he was selected for the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit. He served in the multiple locations throughout the Middle East, Europe and the United States. His employment with the Shreveport Fire Department began in 1996. Chief Ebarb served as a Firefighter and Fire engineer before being promoted to ARFF Chief in 2013. Chief Ebarb has been married to his wife Michele for 14 years and he is the father of six children. He is an avid outdoorsman and volunteer coaches wrestling and football.
