The Shreveport Fire Department Will Be Testing Fire Hydrants
May 1 – May 11, 2017

The Shreveport Fire Department and Department of Water & Sewerage will begin testing fire hydrants throughout the city in preparation for our upcoming Fire Insurance Rating.  Starting today, crews will be conducting fire flow test throughout the city ensuring the water system is ready for the evaluation that will be conducted by Property Insurance Association of Louisiana on May 8 – 11.

These flow tests and evaluation will involve approximately 200 fire hydrants and the results will be used in calculating the City’s Fire Insurance Rating.  The testing of the hydrants will include opening the hydrants for 10 – 15 minutes to get the flow readings and then they will be closed.
