“Paint Your Heart Out Shreveport 2018 Paint Day”


The “Paint Your Heart Out Shreveport” program, is gearing up for Paint Day Saturday, May 12, 2018. Each year, more than 1,000 volunteers paint the homes of low-to-moderate income elderly and/or disabled citizens. Homeowners who qualified for the program will receive a fresh coat of paint to their homes. In addition to painting, homeowners receive smoke alarms and other cosmetic services. A total of 52 houses will be painted. Since the program’s inception in 1992, more than 1,600 homes have been painted.


This year, Drs. C. O. and Elaine Simpkins, will serve as honorary chairpersons. In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Simpkins has long been known as an outstanding civic leader, and champion in the National Civil Rights movement. His wife Elaine is a Philanthropist, retired chemist, and a Board Member of Willis Knighton Health System. Paul Pratt, CEO of Pratt & Associates, is the Chairperson and Dock Voorhies, retired VA Social Worker, and is Co-Chairperson.
