Man Arrested for Simple Arson of Local Restaurant
Shreveport Fire Investigator Jeffrey Witte has arrested Clay Dwight Shane, a 48-year old white male, for simple arson. Witte used evidence collected on scene, video footage and Crime Stoppers tips to link Shane to allegedly setting fire to Country Tavern BBQ--823 Brook Hollow Drive. Witte estimates the fire damage at $1,000.
On Saturday, April 4, 2020, Shreveport firefighters responded to a reported commercial building fire in the 800 block of Brook Hollow Drive. Engine 19 arrived on scene at 09:38 AM to find flames around the entry door and to the covered porch of the business. Engine 19 quickly extinguished the fire and turned all other units around.
Whoever commits the crime of simple arson, where the damage done amounts to five hundred dollars or more, shall be fined not more than fifteen thousand dollars and imprisoned at hard labor for not less than two years nor more than fifteen years. ###
