[ARCHIVED] SFD Plans Second Smoke Alarm Campaign of 2015

According to Shreveport Fire Department officials, the department’s second Smoke Alarm Give-Away Drive of 2015 will be held this Saturday, May 9, 2015. Representatives from various SFD Divisions along with community partners will gather at Fire Station 8, 3406 Velva Street, to get briefed on the department’s goal to install (200) 10-year, tamper proof, lithium battery powered smoke alarms.
“Having a working smoke alarm with an escape plan has proven results of saving lives,” said Fire Chief Scott Wolverton. “We’re committed to providing the public with the necessary fire safety information and tools to keep them safe.”
Shreveport residents can receive a FREE smoke alarm or get their current smoke alarm serviced by contacting the Fire Prevention Division at 673-6740.
