A Shreveport man is recovering from injuries he sustained during a shooting incident in Shreveport’s Mooretown neighborhood earlier this morning.
On August 10, 2017, just after 2:30 am, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to Willis Knighton Hospital at 2600 Greenwood Road on reports of a man in the emergency room suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Officers contacted Roderick Mahoney, 18, of Shreveport, and learned that he had sustained one non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his left forearm. A companion transported Mahoney to the hospital and the vehicle he arrived in had sustained damage from what appeared to be multiple projectiles.
Investigators with the violent crimes division responded and launched their investigation. During their preliminary investigation, they learned that Mahoney was standing in the driveway of a residence in the 4400 block of Long Street when he was struck by the gunfire. Mahoney could not provide a description of the suspects. Investigators did locate the crime scene and located several residences struck by gunfire as well. The investigation is ongoing.
