Shreveport Police have a man in custody that was accused of attacking his estranged girlfriend following a dispute in June.
On June 18, 2018, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to the 3400 block of Fernwood Lane on reports of a battery. Officers made contact with the victim who reported that her estranged boyfriend, 22-year-old Kelvin Higgins, attacked her while she was visiting his residence. The female victim alleged that Higgins strangled her then bit her at least twice, once on the cheek and once on the chest.
Investigators with the Domestic Violence Unit were assigned to the case. Detectives reviewed the case and following their review procured a warrant for Higgins charging him with one count of Domestic Abuse Battery with Strangulation. No bond was set.
On August 13, 2018, members of the Shreveport Police Department’s Warrants Unit took Higgins into custody without incident in the 2600 block of Silver Pines Boulevard. He was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
